The Filipino word pluma means “pen,” a simple instrument that has carried stories, histories, questions, and ideas across generations.

This is the spirit behind PLUMA Magazine.

More than a collection of literary works, PLUMA is a meeting place for creative expression and thoughtful discourse. It seeks writing that has something to say, something to remember, and something worth passing on.

Through its Filipino and English sections, the magazine provides room for different forms of storytelling while remaining committed to responsible editorial practice and meaningful publication.

OUR PURPOSE

PLUMA Magazine exists to strengthen the connection among literature, scholarship, culture, and the people who give them life.

We seek to provide writers with a credible platform for their work, encourage meaningful literary and intellectual exchange, recognize the contribution of editors and educators to Philippine letters, and make contemporary writing accessible to a wider community of readers.

Every issue is therefore more than a publication. It is a record of voices gathered at a particular moment, each carrying a story, an idea, or an experience that deserves its place on the page.

INSIDE PLUMA

Poetry / Tula
Words distilled into rhythm, image, memory, and meaning.

Short Stories / Maikling Kuwento

Essays / Sanaysay
Personal, reflective, critical, and literary explorations of ideas and experiences.

Features
Stories about writers, educators, communities, books, culture, and the people shaping the literary landscape.

Literary & Scholarly Conversations
Thoughtful discussions that connect creative writing, education, research, criticism, and contemporary literary practice.

OUR STORY

Before PLUMA, there was already a dream.

It was a dream of creating a space where writers could see their words treated with care and where literature could bring together people from different places, professions, generations, and experiences.

That dream grew through years of publishing, collaboration, and working with writers and educators.

PLUMA is one of the ways that story continues.

What began with a belief in the written word now moves forward with every writer who chooses to share a piece of themselves, every editor who helps strengthen a manuscript, and every reader who turns the page.

The story of PLUMA is still being written.

And there are many pages ahead.
